Emungalan Cemetery – Photo by australiasguide
Each month we look at a genealogy dataset in Australia or New Zealand. This month we look at the Northern Territory and the plaques in remote cemeteries.
The Genealogical Society of the Northern Territory Inc have a webpage titled “Cemeteries, Remote Plaques NT” with details of nine cemeteries, photo’s of the plaques they had had installed which show the names of those buried there. The plagues are at cemeteries in Adelaide River, Brock’s Creek (Zapopan), Port Darwin Camp, Stapleton, Emungalan, Southport, Rum Jungle, Maranboy and Fort Dundas.
If you had ancestors who were pioneers in any of these rural locations, then you may wish to check the webpage to see if your ancestors were buried in any of these cemeteries.
If you need assistance with finding how or when your ancestor came to Australia or New Zealand then you may wish to contact one of AAGRA’s genealogists or record agents
