Anne Wunsch
My genealogical research began with an interest in our local cemetery, the trustees of which held very limited records, and over several years I was able to find obituaries and death records to confirm details of those interred, and have produced a book with this information, entitled A Guide to Warra Cemetery.
I’ve spent many hours individually researching obituaries for my website using information from several sources such as the Trove website; Births, Deaths, Marriages index; Passenger Lists and Australian War Memorial files. The surname search database is free to view at the website – Obituary Research Service – see link below.
I was very proud to graduate with a Diploma of Family History in 2021 through the University of Tasmania.
Some of the projects I have conducted locally include detailed research for the Warra Race Club Inc., which culminated in a successful application to the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour 2021.
As Secretary of the Warra Progress and Heritage Society Inc., I help plan new projects and assist with researching local areas of historical significance, and editing our Society website – whereswarra.com.au
My main focus of family history research is ancestors who lived and died in Queensland, Australia. I’ve successfully located information on many elusive characters that may have been born overseas, but spent the majority of their lives in the Sunshine State.
