Special Interests: Writing, editing, proofing family histories; gap filling research
State/Location specialty: New Zealand
Biography:
Director at Ralston Quercifolia Ltd, a business that covers archives and library consultancy (now minimal) as well as genealogical research, editing and assisting in the preparation of family histories.
Lifelong fascination with ancestry. I have been very fortunate to live a life tied into this passion. This includes working as a record agent in Scotland (in the days when agents could wander into the stacks and search registers directly), a 30-year career in the major documentary heritage institutions of New Zealand (refer to LinkedIn profile) and membership of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists since 1975. I served on the NZSG Council for eight years, three as President. I am currently contracted to edit The New Zealand Genealogist, twice recent winner of the Nick Vine Hall Award.
I am a trustee of two relevant trusts – the Ted Gilberd Literary Trust, tasked with assisting people to write family history, and the UNESCO Memory of the World Trust Aotearoa New Zealand, promoting the importance and value of documentary heritage.
